We also explored the idea of drawing lines in the sand—those mental boundaries caregivers set: “If this happens, then I’ll make a change.” Yet in caregiving, the sand is never still. Conditions evolve, emotions shift, and the goalposts move with each new day. What feels like a firm decision one week may feel impossible the next. It’s okay for boundaries to bend, and it’s okay to feel grief for the personal space or certainty that caregiving often takes away.
