Asking 'Would I accept this if they were healthy?' isn't disloyal — it's how you understand your own boundaries inside a relationship that illness has reshaped.

We named the way health crises, especially chronic or cognitive illness, can alter the fundamental nature of a partnership. It’s disorienting to wonder, “Would I accept this behavior or treatment if they were healthy?” It’s not disloyal to ask the question. It’s human. And recognizing the difference between what’s happening and what would have been helps you understand your own boundaries and needs.
